How to choose the perfect running shoes
Now that spring is here, you can spend more time outdoors and you can finally start running again. But before you do that, make sure you have the right pair of shoes. The first thing you have to do is determine your foot type. Everyone’s foot is different.
Find out if you have a normal arch (a distinct curve along the inside of your foot with a little bridge connecting the heel and toe end of your foot), a low arch (not much of a curve along the inside of your foot and your imprint ) or a high arch ( a very sharp curve along the inside of your foot and your imprint). For the first type, choose stability running shoes. For the second, it’s best to go with motion-control shoes and for the third you should choose cushioned running shoes.
Then do some research and see which brands have the shoes that you need. After that, go shopping and try on a few pairs of shoes. Walk around the store and see how they feel. It;s best to ask for a half size bigger than you normally wear because your feet tend to swell.
Once you’ve bought the shoes, take them out for a run. If, after a week, you’re happy with them, then perhaps it’s ok to buy another pair just like those. Companies often change their designs so it’s likely you’ll have to repeat the whole process soon.
