Elements from the 70s and 80s stylishly incorporated into the Hermès Spring 2014 RTW Collection
Although I’m not an expert in fashion, I can recognize style and beauty when I see them and I have to say that this collection intrigued me. This is the Hermès Spring 2014 RTW Collection and it’s very interesting because it’s harmonious even though it combines elements and influences from different eras and from different areas.
The theme of the collection was “Tropical after the Storm” and it was executed wonderfully. As you can see, there’s a strong influence from the 70s and 80s which brought back the long draping styles.
Overall, the collection has a French chic charm and a strong personality. The kimono aspect also played an important in the overall theme. Although simple, the collection has an exotic flair which makes you want to wear it to the beach and in the most exotic destinations.
The collection combines different cultural influences in a very harmonious way. The floral prints and the blue suede are recurrent throughout and they were displayed in a variety of unexpected ways. What’s intriguing about the collection is the fact that, even though the designs aren’t particularly revealing, they have a very feminine, sexy and bohemian allure and they’re also quite romantic. The collection is also versatile as it combines casual, elegant and formal elements.
