Design Tips for Small Lofts

Design Tips for Small Lofts

You might not have a lot of space in your loft, but that doesn’t mean you can’t create beautiful interiors. Here are some tips to help you update your décor while saving space.

Accentuate Height.

If you don’t have much space on the floor but the loft rises up to the ceiling, try to accentuate this open space with the use of ladders from one level to another. High windows that allow light inside can also be a great way to fill the gaps, as can artwork. Make sure you place them all the way to the top to prevent décor-free spaces from looking odd.

Long chandeliers also help to break the space and link the ceiling to the rest of the living area. They prevent you from having to install desk or table lamps that can take up space.

Create a View.

You don’t need windows in order to see something beautiful that creates the illusion of space within your loft. Turning your walls into a spectacular scene helps to give you something lovely to look at.

Make the Picture Unique Art.

The picture on the wall could even be a personal photo or a memento that means something to you. This adds personality to the room and is especially a good décor idea for industrial lofts that can come across as cold or uninviting when left in their raw nature.

Avoid Walls.

Closing up the loft with separate rooms can have a stifling effect. Try to open things up with the use of stairs and railings instead of doors and walls.

Columns can also be a great way to provide décor in your loft. You can pile books against the columns or paint them a vibrant color to make them more attractive.

Use a Main Color.

You don’t have to stick to one color all over the loft, but in certain areas it can be a good idea to provide harmony throughout your space with one main color. The same color moving from the lower to upper level is an easy DIY trick to achieve a larger living space.

Go for Glass.

Glass stairs give the illusion of openness and they are also a trendy alternative to regular staircases that can take up a large amount of space. Glass is always style at its most crisp.
